Theatre Calgary expresses our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Vera Swanson, who passed away on April 4, 2018.

Born in 1916, Ms. Swanson was a passionate supporter and champion of the arts in Calgary, and we were so happy to consider her part of our Theatre Calgary family. A tireless advocate, her love of music and theatre led her to playing a large part in the creation and development of our home, Arts Commons (originally the Calgary Centre for the Performing Arts).

Vera's amazing support and volunteerism of many arts organizations also led to her being named to the Order of Canada in 2001.

We will miss our friend Vera very much, but we know that her support and passion will be with all of us in the arts forever.
