A Note to Our Community
A Note to Our Community
First and foremost, we hope and trust that you and your loved ones are staying safe and healthy during this sobering moment in our history.
As Theatre Calgary was monitoring the unfolding news of the COVID-19 virus, we made the decision last Friday to suspend the remainder of the season. We were deeply saddened that the last two productions of 2019-20, Admissions and Million Dollar Quartet, had their runs cut short. We are grateful to all the artists and theatre practitioners who were impacted by these cancellations. Our heart goes out to everyone involved.
As devastated as we all felt about the cancellations, our commitment was, and will continue to be, focused on the safety and welfare of our Theatre Calgary patrons, volunteers, staff, and our artists. During this unpredictable and challenging time, your support of Theatre Calgary is profoundly meaningful. In the next few months, when the time is right, we look forward to sharing with you our upcoming season.
To all of you who have reached out offering your understanding and compassion at our situation, we thank you. As a not-for-profit theatre, your words and actions, including donating the value of your ticket(s) back to us for a charitable donation receipt, have touched us deeply. To those of you who have made individual donations, words cannot express our gratitude for your generosity. We truly consider you all part of our family.
We have faith that the time will come when we will all breathe a collective sigh of comfort, when we all be able to return to that magical space we call a theatre, and we will all celebrate in the comedy and tragedy of how truly connected we are.
For now, please take care of yourself, your family, and your friends.
