Welcome Playwrights!
Thank you for your interest in Theatre Calgary’s Literary Department. Here you will find the best way to submit your play.
TC Lit D is actively looking for exciting new work across a multitude of genres.
Script Submissions
It is important for you, the playwright, to understand that Theatre Calgary’s producing aims are to stimulate, provoke, and delight through ambitious programming; to stand amongst the best theatres globally as a leader in innovation, impactful, and diverse programming. If you are looking for context before you submit, please look at what we have produced over the last five years, found at https://www.theatrecalgary.com/archive/. You will see we produce 6-8 shows each season that range from intimate small cast contemporary pieces to theatrical “classics” to large scale Broadway-style musicals.
We are seeking new plays & musicals that aim to ignite local, national, and international engagement. We are looking for strong voices and compelling stories with large scale theatricality and wide appeal.
If this is the kind of play or musical you are writing, send it to us!
Please download the guidelines for submissions (below).
We look forward to reading your work!
Many thanks,
Anna Cummer
Associate Artistic Director
Theatre Calgary
Note: We have a 10-sample quota per month. If the submissions are closed for the month, we have reached our quota. Please check back the following month to see if submissions have reopened.
